Anyone tractor shopping, whether it’s their first tractor, or their 20th purchase – has some decisions to make.
One of the first decisions is often if you want to buy new from a dealership, or a used machine from an individual or from the used lot at the dealership.
The decision between new and used often depends on several factors. Sometimes the number one factor is budget. Another factor is often use – how much will you be using this machine? Will it be used on small home acreage, or for a mix of personal and commercial use? Do you need the machine to have a warranty? Does a used tractor offer the capabilities and features that you need? How long do you plan on keeping this machine?
Are there finance incentives that make it better to buy a new machine (0% interest for 60 months for example) vs buying a machine that is a couple years old and still has a pretty sizeable price tag, without the purchase incentives?
If you’re leaning toward a used machine, you need to decide “how used” you are looking for. Do you want something just a few years old with low hours? Are you okay with a high-hour machine? Are you okay with a REALLY old machine – like our Ford 8N or Ford Workmaster?
In this video, we talk about the things to consider when you’re deciding between a new machine, and a used machine.
